Codex reset announcements vs. your account quota
By ResetPing · Updated October 26, 2026
A public announcement says something about a rollout or a planned reset. Your account's quota says what has actually been observed for you. ResetPing keeps these signals separate so that an announcement does not become a promise of recovered allowance.
Three different signals
| Signal | What it tells you | What to do next |
|---|---|---|
| Public announcement | A source has described a reset, its scope or its progress. | Open the original post and check its scope and status. |
| Personal quota read | Your linked Mac has read the connected account's quota at a particular time. | Check the account identity, update time and available windows. |
| Ping result | The Mac has attempted a short request under your authorization. | Read the execution result; do not infer success from an announcement. |
The public bulletin groups collected posts by event and links to the original sources. It is a bounded collection, not a complete historical archive. An old event's absence from the list does not establish that no reset occurred.
Read the status before acting
Announced ahead means a source described a future event. Source reports rollout means the source says it is in progress. Source reports completion describes the source's completion message, not confirmation for every account. A withdrawn event is no longer an active reset announcement.
A scheduled time passing does not automatically change an event to completed. If the source time is ambiguous, ResetPing preserves that uncertainty. If updates are delayed or unavailable, check the original source rather than treating the page as confirmation that nothing new happened.
The Activity screenshot below contains a historical public announcement and isolated account data. It does not update with today's bulletin.

What if a reset was detected without a new post?
A detection can be based on an observed account reset rather than a new public announcement. It still does not confirm that every account received a reset. Open your own account details and check a fresh quota snapshot.
For example, a source can report completion while your Mac is asleep. Your iPhone may still show an older snapshot. Wake and reconnect the Mac, refresh quota, and inspect the result before assuming your account has recovered.
Banked resets and automatic Ping
When an event is labelled Banked reset, follow the original source and the account's official redemption instructions. ResetPing does not automatically redeem a Banked reset. Do not treat that label as proof that the current quota window has already recovered.
Automatic Ping requires an eligible ResetPing plan, an enabled account strategy, a ready Mac and a qualifying quota detection. A public message alone is not proof that a Ping ran. Ping does not add allowance or guarantee a reset; it sends a short request through the authorized Codex connection and can consume quota.
Read the setup and troubleshooting guide to check those conditions. For current account limits, use the official usage dashboard, documented in OpenAI's usage guidance.
